FAQ

The questions people actually ask.

Including the awkward ones. If yours is not here, ask - we would rather answer it than have you guess.

Buying
Are your prices negotiable?

Yes, within reason. The figure depends on payment terms and whether you are trading something in. Ask and you get a written quote the same day.

Can I see the car before paying anything?

Always. Book a viewing and the car will be washed, charged and out of the line when you arrive.

Do you accept instalments?

For some vehicles, on terms agreed in writing before anything moves. The vehicle stays with us until the balance clears.

Can I bring my own mechanic?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Bring whoever you trust.

Condition and history
What does foreign used mean?

Registered and driven abroad, then imported. The history has been checked and whatever we found is in the report.

Do you check mileage?

Yes, against service records and the vehicle’s own modules where they can be read.

Can I see the inspection before I commit?

Yes, and before any payment. That is the point of writing it down.

Payment and papers
How do I pay?

Bank transfer to the Otos Autos corporate account, receipted immediately. We do not take cash handovers or use personal accounts.

What documents do I get?

Customs papers where applicable, proof of ownership, and the receipt. Registration and transfer are handled before you drive away.

Selling to us
How much is my car worth?

Bring it in and we will give you two figures in writing - what we would buy it for today, and what we would expect to sell it for on your behalf.

Do you buy cars with outstanding finance?

Sometimes, but the finance has to be settled as part of the transaction and the lender has to confirm it.

The showroom
Where are you and when are you open?

Lagos, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. Sundays by appointment.

Can you source a car you do not have?

Yes. Tell us the make, model, year and budget. We find it, inspect it, and you see the report before anything is committed.
